How to Convert Your Bitcoins into Euros with Kraken, Coinbase, or Bitstamp

You can convert bitcoins into euros by transferring them to an exchange such as Kraken, Coinbase, or Bitstamp, selling them there, and withdrawing the euro balance to your bank account.

  1. Create and verify your exchange account

Sign up on Kraken, Coinbase, or Bitstamp. Complete the identity verification process (KYC). This usually requires an ID card or passport, and sometimes proof of address. Add your bank account (IBAN) so you can withdraw euros.

  2. Transfer your bitcoins from Belgacoin

In your exchange account, go to the deposit section and choose Bitcoin (BTC). The exchange will generate a unique Bitcoin deposit address for you.

From your Belgacoin wallet, send your BTC to that address. Always check the address carefully before confirming the transfer.

Bitcoin transfers usually take 10 minutes to 1 hour, depending on network activity.

  3. Sell your bitcoins for euros

Once the BTC arrive on the exchange, go to the trade, market, or convert section. Select the BTC/EUR pair.

    You can usually sell:

    • At market price, which is fast and simple.
    • With a limit order, where you set your desired selling price.
  4. Withdraw your euros to your bank account

After the sale, your exchange balance will be in EUR. Go to the withdrawal section and select your SEPA bank account.

Bank transfers usually take 1-2 business days.

Tip: start with a small test amount so you can get familiar with the process before transferring a larger amount.

CryptoLocker Assistance

Belgacoin.com offers a service intended to make CryptoLocker or CryptoWall-type ransom payments easier and faster for companies.

Whenever possible, we recommend that you do not give in to this kind of blackmail. However, we understand that it is not always possible to abandon encrypted documents, and acquiring Bitcoin to pay a ransom can be difficult and time-sensitive.

Benefits of the service:

  • Ease of use: no need to download a Bitcoin wallet or create an online account.
  • Speed: the ransom can be paid in 1 working day.
  • Proof: we provide proof of payment for the ransom.
  • Receipt: we also provide an invoice.

This service costs 50 EUR plus the ransom amount. It is only available to companies, and you must file a complaint with the police.

Important: this service does not guarantee recovery of encrypted data. Due to the nature of the Bitcoin network, it is not possible to modify or cancel a Bitcoin transaction once it has been initiated. Reimbursement is therefore not possible.

This service is still under construction but is already available. If you are interested in it, contact us at cryptolocker-assistance@belgacoin.com.

We will need:

  • Your name and phone number
  • Your company name and company number
  • A copy of the virus screen
  • A copy of the complaint filed with the police
